FAQs

What happens during a session?

During the first session we will go through a detailed and confidential consultation form. This will include some lifestyle and medical history questions. This can take up to 15 minutes, so please allow extra time for the first appointment. For future appointments there will be a follow-up consultation, but this will only take around 5 minutes. Following the consultation you will be able to get comfy on the massage couch. Depending on what treatment you've chosen, the therapist will advise whether you need to remove any clothing and how to position yourself on the couch. If any clothing is to be removed, the therapist will leave the room to give you privacy. Once you are comfy you can ask the therapist to come back and start the treatment.

Why do you need my medical history?

We take medical details to ensure the treatment is suitable for your needs, and we will advise any changes needed to the treatment to maximise the benefits for your health and wellbeing.

How many sessions are needed?

The number of sessions needed are based on individual requirements. It may be that you'd like a regular session to manage an ongoing condition, or maybe just a one-off to recharge your batteries. I'd recommend a course of at least 3 regular treatments to begin with, then come back as and when needed.

Are there any side-effects?

During your session you may feel hot, cold, dizzy, lightheaded, nauseous, headachy, tired, have a runny nose, or feel thirsty. After your session you may also feel the need to go to the toilet more often, feel achy, joint pain, heightened emotions or have vivid dreams. If you drink plenty of water and avoid caffeine, alcohol and a heavy meal as well as get plenty of rest, you will minimise these feelings.

What payment types do you take?

I take most major credit and debit cards, bank transfers, and cash.

About the Therapist at TheraKey

Nice to meet you

Hi, I'm Laura Key (MFHT), the Therapist at TheraKey.

I started my journey a long time ago when I first had a massage back in the early 2000s. Since then I have tried several different holistic therapies as treats to myself. I soon realised that having regular therapies were so helpful for my self-care and mental health. This is why I wanted to study holistic therapies, to help and support others in their self-care journey and promoting their well-being.

So, in November 2019, having completed introduction courses in Reflexology, Massage and Aromatherapy at a local training centre in Chester, I decided to train as a Reflexologist with the VTCT.

I completed my reflexology for feet and hands, skin care and facial massage, and body massage courses with VTCT through Greenhouse Therapies in Chester. I became a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists, which ensures I am qualified to National Occupational Standards, fully insured, and that I maintain my knowledge through continuing professional development. This year I have kept my knowledge up to date by studying facial reflexology and Thai foot massage.

As time goes by I will offer more therapies but only after I ensured they are accredited and meet my client's needs.

Of course, we have been through a lot since 2019 when I started studying. I believe it is even more important to take care of your body, mind and spirit. The last few years have taught us valuable lessons about the importance of a balanced lifestyle. So, I am offering time out for you to refresh, relax and recharge in a calm and balanced environment.

Just as flight attendants tell you to put your own oxygen mask on first before helping others, this is the same in your daily life. I strongly believe you need to take care of yourself first, before you can be there for those special people in your life.
